Parents & Guardians
Note from Lee Gaskins:
For the people who know me, I have been helping Linden students from 6th grade to 12th for over 25 years. I am dedicated to helping your child get the most out art that they can.
I believe in combining other disciplines, such as: Mathematics, Science, History, etc. into the art program. to help the students understand that everything in school is related. (Almost everything you buy in life has been designed, engineered, or or has been touched by an artist.
I enjoy promoting creativity. Thinking outside the box is such a cliche, but in the real world, people can get rewarded for being different, or solving a problem in a creative or unique way.
My teaching is based on learning and understanding, promoting creativity, technical skills, and problem solving. Solving a problem in art can be as challenging and rewarding as any other academic. These complex talents can still be used by students with little artistic talent- JUST TRY, NEVER give up and.... you WILL be rewarded.
Advanced students who already know their design and color theory, will either create a portfolio and/or work with advanced concepts, techniques and assignments such as commercial illustration. They will improve, if they listen and learn..
Despite any obstacles in their path. I am here to work with your child and help him/her achieve his/her full potential.I am available for help after school, during Anime (Wed.) and Art (Thurs.), club, and other days if needed.
On Tues. I help with an unique entrepreneurial program that meets after school called- EMAP! This is an elite program with limitless potential and importance.
Mr. Devero and I expect from your child to try his/her best, to be respectful at all times and to work in my class every day, bell to bell.
If you have any questions regarding your child's academic performance, please do not hesitate to contact me at lgaskins@lindenps.org. You can also call the LInden academy and leave a message and I'll get back to you ASAP.
The parent-teacher relationship is vital to your child's success in school. By working together, we can help your child have a very fulfilling and enjoyable learning experience.

"Art is the Queen of all sciences communicating knowledge to all the generations of the world." Leonardo da Vinci
"There is no such thing as talent. What they call talent is nothing but the capacity for doing continuous work in the right way." Winslow Homer
"A line is a dot that went for a walk." Paul Klee
"There are more valid facts and details in works of art than there are in history books." Charlie Chaplin
Art is contemplation. It is the pleasure of the mind which searches into nature and which there divines the spirit of which Nature herself is animated. Auguste Rodin
When creativity has become your habit; when you've learned to manage time, resources, expectations, and the demands of others; when you understand the value and place of validation, continuity, and purity of purpose, then you're on the way to an artist's ultimate goal; the achievement of mastery. Twyla Tharp
Art imitates life. Life imitates high school. Brad Holland
An artist is not paid for his labor but for his vision. - James McNeill Whistler
Art is not a pleasure, a solace, or an amusement; art is great matter. Art is an organ of human life, transmitting man's reasonable perception into feeling. In our age the common religious perception of men is the consciousness of the brotherhood of man-we know that the well-being of man lies in the union with his fellow men. True science should indicate the various methods of applying this consciousness to life. Art should transform this perception into feeling. The task of art is enormous. Through the influence of real art, aided by science, guided by religion, that peaceful co-operation of man is now obtained by external means-by law courts, police, charitable institutions, factory inspection, etc.-should be obtained by man's free and joyous activity. Art should cause violence to be set aside. And it is only art that can accomplish this. - Leo N. Tolstoy
